We offer the men and women of Weatherford and Hurst, TX several nonsurgical options for rejuvenating their skin. Dysport is an injectable wrinkle relaxer that acts like BOTOX to soften and reduce dynamic wrinkles and lines throughout the face. Dynamic wrinkles are formed by recurrent facial expressions and movements (like laughing, smiling, and frowning). This may cause the skin over the muscle to have a furrowed line that can be seen even when the face is resting. Dysport is uniquely designed to address the most frequent dynamic wrinkles: the frown lines that show up as vertical lines between the eyebrows. This injectable temporarily stops the muscle from moving. Your skin will still have the dynamic wrinkle, but the skin will be smooth. It will have a natural-looking result that will not make your face look "frozen." Dysport is a favorable choice if you want a nonsurgical treatment to address mild, moderate, or severe vertical glabellar (frown) lines between your eyebrows. Because dynamic wrinkles and lines are created by frequent muscle use, they may make you appear mad, tired, or sad. Dysport is an ultrafast, appropriate treatment for these dynamic wrinkles without leaving you with a "frozen" appearance. Since Dysport's formula can spread to wider areas with wrinkles than BOTOX, it's also great for Crow's feet (the small wrinkles in the corners of the eyes). Many patients at SkinMD notice a visible improvement in their dynamic wrinkles in 1 – 3 days following their injections that may remain for as long as 4 – 6 months.
Injections of Dysport are given in one of our minor treatment rooms following your consultation with your injector. This should be a short appointment after your first consultation. The injections take around 15 – 30 minutes. A local anesthetic or numbing cream is nonessential because the Dysport is injected using a fine needle that creates very little pain, but it may be applied if requested. The treatment area will be cleaned and several well-placed Dysport injections will be made across the eyebrows, followed with a cold compress to lessen your bruising and swelling. Following your Dysport injections at SkinMD, you may perform daily tasks, but you should avoid physically demanding activities for at least a day.
What to Expect
Following a Dysport session, you may notice slight redness and swelling near the injected area, but this typically will resolve within 1 – 3 days. You should sleep propped up for the first night and may want to apply cold compresses when needed. Improvements are often noticeable in 1 – 3 days as the severity of your lines decrease to reveal a softer, smoother appearance. Your results should last around 3 – 4 months. Touch-up injections may be scheduled at SkinMD to extend your results.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Dysport cost?
Your Dysport injection fees are based on the number of units of Dysport needed to achieve your goals. In your consultation, your injector will develop your personalized treatment plan to estimate your cost. Also, you should ask if we are running any specials or promotions on Dysport if you are looking to save money on your investment. Your experience is important to us!
Should I get Dysport or a wrinkle filler?
Many patients do not understand the different uses for wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers. A wrinkle relaxer corrects dynamic wrinkles, whereas a dermal filler addresses static lines. Dynamic wrinkles are the result of repetitive facial muscle movements, such as smiling, laughing, frowning, and other expressions. Dysport relaxes the muscle under the skin to smooth the dynamic wrinkles. Static lines are the result of low skin elasticity so an injection of a wrinkle filler, like Restylane or Voluma, will plump the area to make it look smooth. In your consultation, your injector will help you choose Dysport, a dermal filler, or a mix of both to deliver your desired outcome.
How often should I get Dysport injections?
Your Dysport results may be visible for 3 – 4 months. In your initial consultation, your injector will recommend how often you should schedule follow-up appointments at our office to sustain your results. You might want to get treatments more often or further apart once you see how long your initial results last.
